Foods To Avoid When Taking Viagra

Foods To Avoid When Taking ViagraQuite often the question arises why the intake of food and how it affects the effectiveness of certain medicines. In particular, the instructions for the use of Viagra indicate that the drug should be taken 30 minutes – 1 hour before the intended sexual activity. It is also noted that fatty foods can reduce the maximum concentration of the drug in plasma and lengthen the time to achieve it.

A randomized placebo-controlled trial was conducted to study the effect of food on the effectiveness of Viagra.

To do this, 48 men (from 29 to 79 years old) who were satisfied with the effect of taking Viagra, after a 1-2-week period without the drug, were prescribed one of 4 regimens:

  • taking sildenafil 1 hour before meals and taking a placebo 30-60 minutes before planned sexual intercourse;
  • taking a placebo for 1 hour before meals and taking sildenafil 30-60 minutes before sexual intercourse;
  • taking sildenafil during meals and taking placebo 30-60 minutes before sexual intercourse;
  • taking placebo during meals and taking sildenafil 30-60 minutes before sexual intercourse.

To assess erectile function, the International Index of Erectile Function, the “Profile of sexual contacts” 2 (erection is sufficient for penetration) and 3 (erection is sufficient to complete sexual intercourse), and indicators of satisfaction with treatment were used.

As a result of the study, it was found that there is no decrease in the effectiveness of sildenafil if it is taken shortly before or during a meal. It has also been shown that the duration of action of sildenafil can exceed 10 hours.

Can I take viagra with coffee and tea?

But what about tea or strong coffee? Is it possible to take Viagra with these coffee and tea. Experts assure that this is extremely undesirable. Tea contains tannins, and coffee contains caffeine. These components are quite active and can react with the ingredients included in Viagra. This threatens both a decrease in the effectiveness of the drug and the appearance of side effects. In this case, it is very difficult to predict the effect of the erectile dysfunction drug. This is especially true if the drinks differ in strength.
